What is 'down to earth'
technical support?

I can diagnose problems with desktop and laptop computers, video game consoles, cell phones, etc... anything with a mechanical heartbeat. I can help you make the decision to fix or replace the device. My rates are reasonable. Communication is important. Trust is mandatory. I do not treat clients as numbers. I will not charge for services not rendered.

My goals are simply to help you get the most out of your computer or other such device at a reasonable rate with a friendly, helpful attitude.

Viruses and malware and po...um...adult content, OH MY.

You need to be safe; You're family needs to be safe. Kids can find content on the internet not suitable for Howard Stern.

Tips to keep you and your computer safe

Keep an anitvirus on and up to date. I am very particular when it comes to software running in the background on my computer. The one piece of software I always have running is an antivirus. My antivirus software is also the only software I allow to update whenever it wants to update.

Check for system updates often Your operating system is the foundation for your computer. Security vulnerabilities are the route hackers look for and use to reak havoc on your computer. Every few days you should to check for updates or allow the computer to automatically check for you. For Windows updates, visit the Windows Update Center

Use a firewall.A firewall protects your computer by only allowing certain traffic to get through. Routers have a firewall built in and Windows has had a firewall built in since XP service pack 2(A good reason to run those updates). The most important thing to remember is a firewall can only work if it is turned on. Some software will try to access certain routes to the outside world, called ports, and your firewall will ask for permission. Allow the permission only if you trust the software.

Watch out for Scareware. Scareware is a type of malware that tries to scare you into buying a service with a credit card. I hope you don't fall victim to this type of activity. If a windows pops up out of nowhere saying you have a virus or your system has been compromised get a second opinion. Type exactly what is stated in the pop up into google or bing or whichever search browser you prefer. Surround the words with quotes and don't forget to include all the words including any in the title bar.

Fear of technology can only be conquered by learning

I would like to explain some things about computers for anyone interested. This is a very basic computer knowledge base designed to be a starting place for removal of confusion. Computers can not process anything other than bits of data. They are simply machines designed to take data, run that data through a set of rules called programs and display the output.

Computer Hardware

Computer hardware is anything physical on a computer. This includes everything attached to the outside of the computer including the keyboard, mouse, monitor, printer, scanner and so on. Hardware is anything you can touch. Inside the computer is a CPU(Central Processing Unit), an HDD(Hard Disc Drive), RAM(Random Access Memory), a motherboard, a power supply, and lots of other components which I will get into later.

Computer Software

Computer Software is written by a programmer to output a result. Software is an abstract; Software is not tangible. Windows© is system software designed to provide a platform or a base from which other software called application software can be installed and run. Application software is where the average user types a document, prints a picture or surfs the web. There is a third type of software called programming software which is used to create application and system software with a specific programming language such as C, C++, Java, PHP, Python, and many others.

Hardware Meets Software

Computer Hardware can not work without software called drivers. A driver provides the operating system (ie. Windows©) with a set of instructions on how to use a piece of hardware. The driver receives an instruction and acts as a messenger and a translator between the hardware and the software. Hardware devices attached to the outside of the computer are either input devices, output devices or both. A mouse is an input device and as you move the mouse a laser picks up the movement. The mouse then tells the driver a set of coordinates and the driver tells the operating system where to move the pointer. A monitor is an output device which receives information from its driver to display an image. Sometimes a monitor has a USB plug to connect devices and can be considered an input/output device.

Graphics Design

I offer logo design and web design services.

I am currently working on a portfolio. My Graphics include everything on this website. Also, aside from the mascot character and the logos, I created all the graphics on the Lee's Hoagie House in Abington and Horsham and Lee's Hoagie House in Blue Bell websites.

Website Design & Development

Half a decade ago, I began to learn graphics design and website design and development and I got hooked. Creating a website is an artform and I enjoy letting my creative side come out. Along with this website, I have created websites for the restaurants I used to manage, Lee's Hoagie House in Abington and Horsham and Lee's Hoagie House in Blue Bell.

My goal is to help people

I am a certified computer technician. I have been helping family and friends with computer related issues for many years. I have decided to create a business that can help people and keep people from having to rely on indifferent corporate repair companies. I am personal, reliable and individual. My services are gauranteed, of course, but I want to fix your problem, not just charge you money and forget all about you.

I repair and upgrade laptop and desktop computers, cell phones, game consoles and just about anything with a digital, electronic heartbeat. Laptops and desktop computers are just the start of my focus in this world of cunfusing technology. I am creative and calculating in my attack on issues relating to computers and technology. I believe people can get confused by technology and make a choice to live without "new fangled" electronic devices. I also believe people have a strong desire to play with the latest technology but may not know where to start.

A Few Words About Customer Service IMO(In My Opinion)

I understand how frustrating life can get when problems arise. I, personally, do not like when I have a problem and the guy behind the counter at the pizza place gives me a hard time(no offense to pizza place workers, I worked in a hoagie shop for many years). Customer Service is a huge thing for me and I have been trained and also been the trainer in many customer service positions. At Radioshack, I was the top salesman out of forty four stores. I was also a manager of a store which, before I started there, had not seen a sales increase in over a year. It took me three months to increase the sales in that store by teaching my people about customer service and how to treat the customer right. As a manager in a faced paced Lee's Hoagie House, I would help customers feel at home in our store by showing them how I would like to be treated if I went to any restaurant. Honestly, if you want to go to a large corporation and have your computer fixed, I don't mind. But please, please, please call me when the problem arises so I can at least help you get your frustrations out before making a decision that helps the salesman and empties your pockets. I am serious.
